Ishtiaq read law at the Anglia Ruskin University (previously known as the Anglia University) graduating with an Upper-Second Class Degree and completed his Post Graduate diploma in legal practice at the Guildford branch of the College of Law. After working for several city law firms involved in mainly litigation work, he commenced his training contract in June 2003 and was admitted as a Solicitor in 2005. Following admission as a Solicitor, Ishtiaq worked for various companies including Sovereign Housing Association, Tiuta Plc and the University of Surrey as in-house Counsel. In 2008,Ishtiaq formed Chatham Chambers Solicitors incorporating the Sole Practice of Caroline Campbell Solicitor. More recently, he has completed a Masters Degree (LLM) in Advanced Legal Studies at the University of Reading and is currently undertaking the Higher Rights of Audience Assessment to become a Higher Courts Advocate.

Ishtiaq has experience in immigration law, commercial and residential property law, landlord and tenant, civil litigation, intellectual property and wills and probate including Shariah law. He has previously undertaken charity and community work as well as advising at the local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) on various immigration matters including Entry Clearance applications and appeals; Extensions of leave to Remain; Settlement Applications and Work Permits.

He has also advised on a variety of property related issues including sale and purchase of residential and commercial property, landlord and tenant, commercial agreements and litigation. Ishtiaq can advise clients purchasing property with specialist Islamic Mortgages from lenders such as Amanah Finance (provided by HSBC),Islamic Bank of Britain, and Al-Buraq (underwritten by Bristol & West). In addition, he can advise on Islamic Wills and conventional wills.Focusing on “client care” and providing a professional and friendly service, he is the driving force behind the practice and aims to ensure that Chatham Chambers will be able to offer legal services to the local community which will be a "cut above the rest." His desire is to develop a reputable practice, which will be a leader in the areas of law in which it practices.
